Douglas County School District hosting online funding forums

Douglas County School District is hosting three virtual forums with Superintendent Erin Kane to discuss the district’s funding situation ahead of potentially asking for a mill levy override or bond.

The three forums are each an hour-long and available through Zoom, taking place at 10 a.m. June 18, noon June 20 and 5 p.m. June 22.

Kane will present about budget challenges, the funding process and what can be done to continue to support strong education.

On June 7, a district committee that explored the necessity of a mill levy override or bond told the Board of Education that Douglas County schools need to seek more funding despite a lack of voter support.
